Due to the perishable nature of our products, The Ginger Butcher maintains a strict but fair refund and return policy. We are committed to providing our customers with high-quality meat products and reliable game meat processing services, and your satisfaction is very important to us.

Please read the following policy carefully to understand your rights and our obligations regarding refunds and returns.

2. Perishable Meat Products

Returns Not Accepted

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on perishable items including:

  • Fresh or frozen meats

  • Game meat products

  • Custom meat cuts

  • Processed game (e.g., wors, biltong, steaks)

Once these products have left our premises or have been delivered, they cannot be returned for resale or redistribution due to health and safety regulations.

3. Incorrect or Damaged Orders

If you receive the wrong item, or if your order arrives spoiled or damaged, please contact us within 24 hours of receipt. To help us resolve the issue quickly, please:

  • Provide your order number

  • Take clear photos of the issue

  • Describe the problem in writing

We will assess the situation and offer one of the following remedies:

  • A replacement item (where possible)

  • A store credit for the value of the affected items

  • A full or partial refund, depending on the nature of the issue

4. Game Meat Processing Services

We take extreme care in the handling and processing of your game carcasses. Please note:

  • Once your processing instructions are confirmed, changes cannot be guaranteed.

  • No refunds will be given for customer dissatisfaction based on taste, texture, or expectations where the correct process was followed.

  • If there is a clear fault on our part (e.g. incorrect cuts or packaging error), we will investigate and provide a suitable remedy.

5. Order Cancellations

  • Orders for ready-made butchery products may be cancelled if done at least 24 hours before the scheduled pickup or delivery time.

  • Orders that have already been processed or dispatched cannot be cancelled or refunded.

6. Custom Orders

Custom products (such as bulk meat packs or biltong orders) are made to your specifications and cannot be returned or refunded unless they are defective or do not match the agreed-upon order.

7. Refund Process

If a refund is approved, it will be:

  • Issued to the original payment method (EFT, card, or other)

  • Processed within 7 business days

  • Confirmed via email or phone
